Shri A. Anbarasu, IAS, Additional Secretary & DG (Acquisition), MoD and Maj.Gen. Tarun Agrawal, ADG Tech Army, MoD visited AVNL CO on 23rd January, 2026 and held discussions with Shri Sanjay Dwivedi, CMD/AVNL and other senior officers of CO, HVF and EFA.

In a major impetus towards AVNL’s in meeting evolving operational requirements of the Indian Army, the first two T-72 tanks overhauled under a pilot project by Vehicle Factory Jabalpur (VFJ), a unit of Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL), were flagged off on Wednesday, 28 January 2026. This project strategically expands the overhauling facilities available at Heavy Vehicles Factory (HVF), a Unit of AVNL. The tanks were flagged off by Lt Gen Amardeep Singh Aujla, PVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, Master General of Sustenance (MGS). The occasion was attended by Shri Sanjay Dwivedi, IOFS, ndc, Chairman & Managing Director, AVNL; Shri Satyabrata Mukherjee, Director (Operations and Additional Charge Director/HR), AVNL; Shri Praveen Kumar, Chief General Manager, VFJ; along with other senior officers and personnel from the Indian Army and AVNL. This milestone provides a significant impetus to AVNL’s ongoing efforts to enhance its capabilities and meet the aspirations of the Indian Army.

AVNL participated in the 3rd India–Kenya Defence Exhibition & Seminar, held on 19 January 2026 in Nairobi, jointly organised by the High Commission of India in Kenya and the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), with the support of the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, Government of India.

The exhibition provided an important platform for AVNL to showcase its export-oriented defence products, reflecting the strength of indigenous defence manufacturing and underscoring the company’s commitment to Aatmanirbhar Bharat while actively expanding its footprint in international markets. AVNL’s participation in the exhibition stands as a clear example of its growing global engagement and vision to emerge as a competitive player in the global defence ecosystem.

The event was graced by H.E. Ms. Soipan Tuya, Cabinet Secretary for Defence of Kenya, as the Chief Guest, who jointly inaugurated the exhibition along with Shri Sanjeev Kumar, Secretary (Defence Production), and Dr. Adarsh Swaika, High Commissioner of India to Kenya.  The dignitaries visited the AVNL stall and reviewed the company’s products on display.
